Problem: My life feels like it's stopped.

Name: Emily Watson
Occupation: Banker
Country: United Kingdom
City: London

I'm Emily, 29 years old. I live in London and work in a bank. My life may seem normal from the outside, but deep down I feel like I'm stuck somewhere.

Every morning I wake up and go to the office, work all day, come home tired in the evening, watch some TV, and fall asleep. Week after week, month after month—it all seems to be going on like a clock. I don't know what I really want from this life.

I don't have any serious problems—I have a good job, I earn enough to support my family, and I'm healthy. But I still feel like I'm living, but I'm not really enjoying life. Like I'm just living to survive, but there's no meaning to it.

Sometimes I think about quitting my job and starting something new, but I don't know what to do. Or I think, maybe I'm asking for something that's not really possible. How do I know what my life means? How can I overcome this stagnation?

Solution: From stagnation to vibrant life

Dear Emily,

Your words sound very familiar. Because, that's the feeling that many of us experience at some point in our lives. It's like life is going on autopilot, where daily tasks have become mechanical, but deep down we don't feel alive.

But the biggest positive is that you recognize this feeling. You realize that you don't just want to get through the day, you want to truly experience life. And that's where the change begins.

1. Change small things, big changes will come automatically.

The biggest cause of stagnation is a habitual lifestyle. If you live the same life every day, it will eventually become boring. But if you start making small changes little by little, then new life will be breathed into your life.

  • Change your office commute route.
  • Eat lunch somewhere new.
  • Read a new book that will stir your thoughts.
  • Call someone you haven't spoken to in a long time.

These small changes will slowly start to add new color to your life.

2. Find what you love.

You said you want to quit your job, but you don't know what to do. But even before you quit your job, you can find something that interests you.

  • What is something you could spend hours and hours on?
  • Was there anything that brought you joy as a child?
  • Are you interested in any artistic endeavors? Writing, drawing, music, photography?
  • Do you love traveling, or are you interested in learning new cultures?

Start looking for answers to these questions, and that will slowly create new meaning in your life.

3. Break the routine and experience something new.

The antidote to boredom is new experiences. Have you ever traveled alone? Or tried to learn a new skill? Maybe there are things in your city that you've never done before—a new workshop, a new class, or volunteering.

4. Change your perspective—you are not stuck, you are on the path to discovering something new.

Stagnation is never permanent. But when we think, "I'm stuck," we are truly stuck. Instead, think, you are on a new journey. Now you are the seeker, who wants to find a new chapter in your life.

5. You can consider professional counseling.

Many times, we don't understand our own situation deeply because we are stuck in our own world of thoughts. A therapist or coach can guide you on how to find new meaning in your life.

Dear Emily, life doesn't follow a set path. It's a journey, with something new waiting at every turn. You're still in the middle of that journey, and there are so many possibilities waiting for you ahead. Be patient, be kind to yourself, and take small steps toward new experiences.

Good luck!
